JOB SUMMARY

The Logistics and Freight Analyst plays a vital role in optimizing the transportation of goods by identifying cost-effective methods while maintaining efficiency and timeliness. This role encompasses overseeing transportation processes to align with organizational requirements and standards.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS

  • Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain, Logistics, Industrial Engineering, or a related field from an accredited institution, or an equivalent combination of education, certification, and relevant experience
  • Preferred minimum of 10+ years of experience in Transportation, Logistics, Supply Chain, or related field
  • Knowledge of pertinent transportation regulations and industry best practices

POSITION REQUIREMENTS AND PREFERRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES

  • Proficiency, or potential to develop proficiency, in data analysis tools and software (e.g., Excel, Tableau, Power BI) to manipulate, analyze, and visualize complex datasets.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office suite, including Word, Excel, Access, Project, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
  • Familiarity with transportation management systems (TMS), enterprise resource planning (ERP) systems, and other logistics software.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to translate data into actionable insights.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, to effectively collaborate with cross-functional teams and present findings to stakeholders.
  • Detail-oriented mindset with a commitment to accuracy in data analysis and reporting.
  • Knowledge of international shipping regulations, customs procedures, and import/export documentation is advantageous.
  • Ability to adapt to a fast-paced and dynamic work environment while managing multiple tasks and priorities.
  • Ability to address practical problems and handle situations involving limited standardization.
  • Strong negotiation skills and the ability to build and maintain positive relationships with external partners.
  • A proactive and self-driven attitude with a willingness to take ownership of tasks and projects.
  • Ability to maintain consistent attendance, arriving on time and prepared for all shifts, meetings, and appointments.

ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES, EXPECTATIONS, AND BEHAVIORS include, but are not limited to, the following:

  • Collect, analyze, and interpret data related to transportation and freight operations to identify trends, patterns, and opportunities for improvement.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including supply chain, procurement, and operations, to gather data and insights for enhancing logistics strategies.
  • Monitor transportation routes, modes, and carriers to ensure optimal utilization and cost-effectiveness while meeting delivery timelines.
  • Develop and maintain dashboards, reports, and key performance indicators (KPIs) to provide real-time visibility into logistics and freight metrics.
  • Assist in the negotiation of freight rates and contracts with carriers, freight forwarders, and other service providers.
  • Conduct regular audits of freight invoices to ensure accuracy and adherence to agreed-upon terms, resolving discrepancies as needed.
  • Analyze and recommend improvements to shipping and freight consolidation processes to minimize transportation costs and carbon footprint.
  • Collaborate with technology teams to leverage transportation management systems (TMS) and other tools for efficient route planning, tracking, and reporting.
  • Stay up-to-date with industry trends, regulations, and best practices in logistics, freight, and transportation management.
  • Participate in the development of strategic initiatives aimed at optimizing supply chain operations, reducing lead times, and improving overall customer satisfaction.
  • Assist in the development and execution of contingency plans to address potential disruptions in the supply chain.
  • In office attendance is an essential function of this position.

The essential functions of this job require the employee to perform the following physical activities:

  • Regular use of PC, laptop, copier, fax, and other general office equipment.
  • Ability to access all areas of the facility to perform essentials functions of the position.
